Backstage with Dave “Bucket” Colwell of Bad Company. Bad Company came to the restaurant every night while they were here getting ready to perform at the County Center.  They invited me to the show with a pass to go to their dressing room for a party.

The Eloquent Melody of Eli

Whence have I first heard the sweetest music play?
Was it from the talented fingers of a boy?
Was it from the passionate desires of a man?
It was from the melodious heart of Eli.

Whence have I first heard the velvety music sound?
Was it from the hollow chamber of a well-carved guitar?
Was it from the silvery chord of strings?
It was from the eloquent notes of Eli.

Whence have I first seen a musician strum with his artistic fingers?
Was it from a long ago concert or a great orchestra?
Was it from long lost scores in the library of music?
It was from the forever remembrance of Eli.

He played for me the purest musical arrangements.
It was music of inspiration and contentment.
It was music of unconditional love for mankind.
My world was perfect when Eli’s music played.

My world is perfect when Eli Acosta’s music plays.

Eli Plays Guitar

Eli Acosta played for me in my restaurant last July 7th.  He is a beautiful boy who plays fantastic guitar music.

I first met Eli when he was twelve years old.  Knowing that he felt bad being not able to get his guitar signed by Les Paul then, I asked him to trust me.  I eventually got Eli’s guitar signed, which I then sent to Eli in Denver.  Eli’s father told me that that was the only thing that comforted Eli at the time of Les Paul’s death.

Eli came to visit me for the first time since then, on his way to a guitar camp in the Catskills.  I was certainly delighted to see him and have him play for me.

Classical Guitar Valentine Serenades

Classical guitarist Jason Jacob serenaded guests who came for Reka’s Valentine’s Day Dinner Special.  For the occasion, Reka carefully selected a menu accompanied by pink champagne to enhance the expression of the passion celebrated by lovers everywhere on Valentine's Day.

To the delight of revelers, Mr. Jacob performed popular classical music—and some contemporary tunes too.  One restaurant guest commented that the young musician fit right in the place and the occasion.

His music adds to the classy and romantic ambience that already pervades.

Reka Souwapawong was delighted to have Jason Jacon perform in her restaurant as an added treat especially to those who partook of her Valentine’s Dinner Special. 

Last night was so wonderful. Jason was so well received and I was very impressed with his repertoire.

Jason Jacob received his Bachelor of Music from UMKC Music Conservatory and went on to receive his Masters Degree in Music Performance at the Rudi E Scheidt School of Music where he studied with Lily Afshar.  Jason has won several competitions including the Brownsville Guitar Ensemble Competition. He is currently pursuing an Artist Diploma at SUNY Purchase with Frederic Hand.  In addition to performing Jason is passionate about teaching guitar.  He has received Suzuki method guitar training at the Frank Longay Conservatory of Guitar.
